The rugged Constructor wheelbarrow, with its heavy duty steel tray, is obviously fashioned on the ubiquitous and perennially popular Contractor wheelbarrow that has been building New Zealand for over 35 years.
Until the emergence of NZ Wheelbarrows in 1992, the Contractor wheelbarrow was the most popular choice for the construction industry in New Zealand. NZ Wheelbarrows supplanted that model with its ever more popular plastic trayed Tradesman wheelbarrow. Today, however, we are proud to present the ‘old favourite’ wheelbarrow, reworked and improved substantially and presented now for the new century. It has had a royal makeover compared to the original namesake, sufficient to give the new Constructor Wheelbarrow pride of place for the future where strength and durability count.
For starters the tray and the wheel are made from galvanised sheet metal before they are painted, so even after persistent hard use, the worn off paint will only reveal the galvanised backbone! Similarly the heavy duty handle is pre-galvanised, and the legs and braces have been upgraded to 6mm thick hot dip galvanised steel. To maintain the quality, the nuts and bolts are also properly hot dip galvanised. This high level of specification together with the precision ball bearings in the wheels has resulted in a wheelbarrow that will be a pleasure to use for decades longer than its previous incarnations which display showroom shiny zinc plated components and painted bare steel trays that just will not match our Constructor for durability.
